Who we are
Grassroots is a UK leader in suicide prevention.
We provide people with the skills and confidence needed to save lives through Real Talk.
What we do
We provide suicide prevention training and resources. But that’s not all.
We make change.
We work with ChangeMakers - the people that share our beliefs and enable real talk.
What we believe
We believe that suicide can be prevented through open and direct conversations.
We call this Real Talk.
What is Real Talk?
Essential suicide prevention for everyday heroes. Real talk is a meaningful conversation. One that’s open, direct, honest and courageous.
Sometimes we all feel like we have no one to talk to. With Real Talk, we can reach people when they’re at their most vulnerable.
Did you know most suicides happen in the community?
You have the opportunity to help
You don't need to be a professional to help:
Using Real Talk you can make a difference
Asking about suicide, does not put the idea in someone's head:
Research tells us, asking saves lives
The impact of suicide is devastating. It leaves people asking: Why did that happen? Is there anything that could have been done to prevent this tragic loss of life?
It might surprise you to know that most people who die by suicide are not in contact with mental health services - they are right here in our community. That’s why we have developed Real talk with the community in mind. To get real people in real life situations talking and let them know that starting conversation about suicide really can save lives.
— In fact, talking about suicide is the best way we know to prevent suicide —
But because of the taboo and stigma around suicide most people fear talking about it. They feel that the conversation could be confronting or put the idea about suicide in someone’s head or even make things worse. We understand these fears and how myths like these can be real conversation stoppers.
Real talk provides practical tools, advice and coaching to get people having honest, open and reassuring conversations about suicide. Conversations which could quite literally be the difference between life and death.
Suicide is not inevitable, it is preventable
Recovery is possible
We can all make a difference
