In Honour of You

A message from Stella Comber, Chief Executive:

Grassroots Chief Executive simles at her desk.

By far the best bit about my job is the truly amazing people I get to meet and talk to every day. People who come from all walks of life and backgrounds but who have a connection in common. They are connected through their shared interest in suicide prevention. And many of them have their own stories to tell. Stories about their own thoughts of suicide or, sadly, the loss of a loved one or friend. These are people like you and I, people whose lives have been changed by suicide and are joining our Real Talk community.

This World Suicide Prevention Day the theme of working together really brought home how we can all make a difference by supporting each other and having real, open, courageous conversations about suicide.

Suicide is not inevitable.

Recovery from suicidal thoughts and behaviours is possible. It’s alive and well and is talking to you right now! These are the messages we need to take right into the heart of our society.

And by taking an active role in this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day you’re helping to save lives and make positive change possible.

Thank you.

Let’s continue to share the resilience, wisdom and knowledge that exists in this community. I am optimistic that together we can continue to make a difference.
